B A H AW A L P U R: Chief Minister Maryam Nawaz has taken notice of the leakage of rainwater from the roof of the cardiac ward of the Bahawal Victoria Hospital (BVH) and sought a report from the management.

Dawn leant that Health Minister Salman Rafique called BVH acting chief executive officer Prof Dr Mughees Ahmed and conveyed to him the concerns of the CM. The minister asked him to send a detailed report on the issue. It may be recalled that on the night between July 6 and 7, during first monsoon rain, the rainwater massively leaked from the roof of BVH`s ward. The patients were shockedtoseethe abrupt leakage of water at a high speed at midnight.

BVH Medical Superintendent (MS) Dr Aamir Bokhari claimed that the rainwater bad accumulated only in the corridor and it was immediately drained out by the hospital employees in a short time.

It may be mentioned that the rainwater leakage from the roof was also alarming as thePunjab government in the tenure of caretaker CM Mohsin Naqvi had utilised over Rs2bn on the revamp of the BVH building where the work was still going on. The sources say the revamp was in progress in the cardiac ward when the rainwaterleaked fromits roof.

However, Prof Dr Mughees claimed that it was not a roof leakage but as the building had aluminum windows without any shades over them outside, the rain directly hit them and water reached the corridor through them. He confirmed that the CM had sought areport of the incident from him and he had summoned the officials concerned in this respect.
