Shopkeeper, robbers injured in gun battle

TOBA TEK SINGH: A shopkeeper and two robbers were injured critically during an exchange of firing between them and other shopkeepers at the Sadhar Bypass Adda in Faisalabad on Monday.

Reports said two robbers attempted to looted a chicken shop owner Danish Yasin but he offered resistance to which the suspeets opened fire as a result he was critically injured.

In retaliation, shopkeepers also fired on robbers as a result they were also wounded. One of them fled in an injured conditionwhile the other was overpowered and handed over to Thikriwala police. Later, police chased the other injured outlaw and also arrested him. Both dacoits and shopkeeper had been shifted to Allied hospital.

TRIPLE MURDER: Three people were murdered over old enmity in Gojra on Monday night.

According to police, accused Saadullah and his accomplices riding motorcycles opened indiscriminate fire on rivals in Chak 435-JB when they were returning home from their farm.

As a result, brothers Abdul Jabbar (30) and Abdul Rahman (25) and their farm servant Iqbal (35) died instantly.Gojra Sadar police shifted the bodies to the THQ hospital for autopsy. Police said raids were being conducted to arrest the killers.

KIDNAPPED: The son of a police inspector was kidnapped in Gojra on Monday.

Complainant Inspector Abdul Ghaffar, posted at Pirmahal, said in his FIR registered by Gojra City police that his 22-year-old son Muhammad Fahad was present on Jhang Road near the International Hockey Stadium when unidentified people kidnapped him.

MEASLES: During eight days of the current month, four children suffering from measles hadbeen brought for treatment to Kamalia THQ hospital and and all of themwere nowrecovering, said THQ hospital medical superintendent Dr Muhammad Ijaz while taking to the media on Monday.

He said a special isolated ward had been established in the hospital to treat the children with measles.

SECURITY: Commissioner Silwat Saeed and RPO Dr Muhammad Abid Khan visited Jhang on Monday to assess the Muharram-related security situation.

They held a meeting with the deputy commissioner and district police officer and discussed the overall security arrangements.
