BATTAGRAM: People here have urged the provincial government to establish a Chinese language centre in the district.

The demand came here on Tuesday after announcement by the government that in the nrst phase they would establish four Chinese language centres in Haripur, Abbottabad, Mansehra and Peshawar districts.

The aim of the centres would be to enable the youth to benefit from CPEC and contribute to the development of province, which will also help minimise unemployment ratio in the province.

Fazlur Rehman, a social activist, said that the language centres should be established in backward districts like Battagram.

Mohammad Ghani, a resident of Batamori village, said that if the government established a Chinese language centre in Battagram the unemployed youth would benefit from it.

Sami Khan, a resident of Battagram village, said that if the youth learned Chinese language they would easily get jobs within the district in some CPEC-related project.

Mohammad Ghaffar, a government contractor, said on the occasion that in the start he got a contract from the Chinese in CPEC, but due to language barrier he could not continue his work with them. He said that many businessmen and contractors would get an opportunity to work smoothly with the Chinese entrepreneurs if theylearned thelanguage.

They demanded of the provincial government to establish one a Chinese language centre in Battagram as the three districts of Hazara division where the government had already planned to establish centres were far away from their district. Correspondent
