DC orders gas facility for Shakardarra

KOHAT: Deputy commissioner, Kohat, Akmal Khan on Tuesday ordered the Oil and Gas Development Company Limited and the Sui Northern Gas Pipelines Limited to provide gas facility to the residents of all union councils near the production site in Shakardarra as their foremost right.

Speaking at a meeting, Lachi teshil nazim Ashfaq Qureshi said that the companies were producing resources since1998, but despite their appeals denying the people of Shakardarra gas facility. He said that the pipes needed cleaning for restoring pressure, but SNGPL was not paying heed to the problem.

Chairing a meeting of a delegation from the oiland gasrich Shakardarra at his office, the DC expressed resentment over denial of gas facility to the area from where the companies were earning billions of rupees annually.

He asked the SNGPL to immediately supply gas to all the three union councils of Shal(ardarra.

STUDENT KILLED: A seminary student was killed inside a mosque by unidentified men in Cheechanna area here on Tuesday.

KDA police said that Mohammad Sajid, a seminary student, was sitting in the mosque af ter morning prayers when armed men attacked and killed him. Police have filed a murder case against unknown assailants.

Meanwhile, a couple was allegedly deprived of cash and gold ornaments in the KDA Town.

One Musadig, a resident of Afridi Banda, told the police that he along with his wife was going to the house of their relatives when two armed men snatched Rs5,000 cash, a mobile phone, earrings and a finger ring from them. The KDA police have registered the case.

PENALTYIMPOSED:Aconsumercourthere onTuesday imposed a penalty of Rs157,000 on a power consumer and meter readers of Urban-2 for stealing electricity.

A Pesco consumer had moved an application in the court of consumer court judge, Aftab Afridi, that he had been sent a bill for Rs157,000 whereas he had no meter since 2013. The judge summoned the SDO Urban-2 and the consumer, Umer Ghaffar.

The SDO said that the consumer was using illegal connection to steal power and the Pesco snapped his connection and took away the meter in 2013. Later, he pleaded that he would pay the bill after which meter was handed over to him which he did not install.

The judge after hearing both the sides ordered the consumer and relevant meter readers to deposit half the amount each in the Pesco account.
