KMU to provide academic facilities to Palestinian students

PESHAWAR: The Khyber Medical University and the Palestine Medical Academy (PalMed Academy), Bolton, United Kingdom, have signed a Memorandum of Understanding aimed at fostering scientific and technical cooperation in various educational and research fields of health at KMU for the Palestinian students.
Under the agreement, KMU will provide academic facilities to healthcare professionals from Palestine, including undergraduate and postgraduate medical students, paramedics, nurses, and other allied health professionals.
KMU Vice-Chancellor Prof Ziaul Haq and by Prof Mahmoud Laubani from PalMed Academy signed the MoU.
Minister for higher education Meena Khan Afridi was also present.
Both institutions would work together to exchange knowledge, skills, and academic expertise in areas of mutual interest. The partnership will also include joint healthcare training programmes, conferences, seminars, symposiums, workshops, and invited lectures on national and international health issues.
Furthermore, the agreement covers joint research projects and the supervision of research studies in selected fields.
Both the parties affirmed that all collaborative activities will be carried out in accordance with national and international ethical standards and regulatory frameworks.
Meanwhile, addressing the online signing ceremony, Meena Khan Afridi described the partnership as a significant step toward enhancing global cooperation in healthcare education, training, and research.
He said it would contribute to the advancement of medical science and the improvement of healthcare delivery systems.
He stated, `Our hearts beat with the people of Palestine, especially the oppressed and helpless people of Gaza. In this time of hardship, supporting the people of Gaza in every possible way is both a humanitarian duty and a requirement of our faith.
The minister appreciated KMU`s commitment and practical measures to provide Palestinian students with opportunities for education and research in various fields of health. He assured that the provincial government would extend full cooperation in this regard. Bureau Report
