LAHORE, Sept 8: A local non-governmental organisation distributed free books among children of nomads on the occasion of World Literacy Day on Sunday.

Speaking at the book distribution ceremony organised by the Mumkin Foundation, Punjab Food Minister Bilal Yaseen said the PML-N government would take drastic steps to achieve 100 per cent literacy rate across the country so that everyone could affectively participate in developmental activities.

The minister said everyone had the right to be educated and the government was devising a comprehensive plan to increase literacy rate in the country.

He requested parents to send their children to stateowned schools so that they could get free education.
