SAHIWAL: Two minor girls are feared drowned after a rickshaw they were traveling by along with their parents plunged into the Lower Bari Doab Canal on Tuesday.
According to Rescue 1122 sources, rickshaw driver Hanif was going along with his eight family members, when at Yousafwala bridge the three-wheeler got out of control and plunged into the canal.
Immediately after the accident, some locals jumped into the canal and rescued six of them.
Rescue divers were looking for two minor girls Toba and Habiba till filing of thereport.
Police recruitment process Out of the 1,100 candidates who appeared for physical fitness test held for recruitment of police`s Special Protection Unit constables, 550 qualified its first and second rounds.
The candidates were required to cover one kilometre distance in seven minutes to prove their fitness.
Deputy Inspector General Shahid Hameed said the candidates were competing for 170 posts. The list of successful candidates of the first two rounds will be displayed on Sept 17.
The candidates will also have to appear for medical and NTS tests.-Correspondent
