ISLAMABAD: The Islamabad police`s Special Investigation Unit (SIU) busted three criminal gangs and recovered weapons, vehicles and valuables from their possession, police sources said.
Superintendent Mohammad Ilyas led the teams that investigated and arrested suspects involved in robberies and other criminal activities.
The teams arrested 10 individuals and recovered weapons and valuables from them.
The suspects were involved in raiding homes and stealing valuables at gunpoint. Police seized four pistols as well as ammunition and two motorcycles.
The suspects confessed to their involvement in 10 robberies in the city.
The suspects also confessed to injuring Dr Uzma Khan in the firing that followed a raid on her clinic on June 11 in Akhtar Town, New Shakrial.
They confessed to committing similar robberies in Rawalpindi within the limits of the New Town police station as well as a murder.
One of the suspects, a woman, provided the others with accommodation and facilitated their robberies.
Two other individuals confessed to their involvement in burglaries in various parts of Loi Bher.
Police recovered gold weighing six tolas from their possession.
Two others have also been arrested for their involvement in thefts in Golra. Gold, bridal outfits and electronics were recovered from them.
