KARAK: The members of Karak tehsil council have demanded of the provincial government to withdraw its decision of diverting oil and gas royalty funds to provision of natural gas to consumers in the district.

They said that government decided to utilise the share of Karak in oil and gas royalty for providing legal gas connections to people in the district.

This issue was taken up in a meeting of tehsil council, held here on Tuesday with tehsil naib nazim Jehanzeb in the chair.

Addressing the meeting, the newly elected nazim, Abdul Wahab, criticised the government for transfer of Rs2 billion share of the district in the oil and gas funds of the current year for provision of gas facility to consumers.

He said that royalty funds were meant for uplift of the district but the provincial government`s decision to shift the amount for provision of gas was illogical. He demanded of the government to deposit its own 25 per cent share for provision of gas to people in the district.

Mr Wahab said that federal and provincial governments should fulfil their responsibility to provide gas facility to the people of Karak from their own resources instead of utilising royalty fund for the purpose.

He said that they would protest the decision of the government and would not let it to take unpopular decisions against the wishes of the people.

TEACHERS: The district chapter of All Subject Specialists Association (ASSA) has demanded one step promotion and timescale for its members.

The demand was made in a meeting of ASSA held here on Tuesday with its district chairman Ahmad Khattal( in the chair.

Talking to journalists after the meeting, ASSA member Mohammad Iqbal Marwat said that provincial government upgraded different cadres of teachers to higher scales but ignored the subject specialists.

He said that the upgradation policy of the government was not uniform as the senior subject specialists, subject specialists, principals, vice principals and assistant district education officers were worl(ing in the same scales as they were not been upgraded. Correspondent
