I WOULD like to draw your kind attention to the Muslims of Myanmar who are being killed at the behest of the Myanmar government. The Rohingyas are being forced to leave their homeland Rakhine province.
Ironically, the United Nations, humanrights organisations and even Organisation of Islamic Countries have not yet raised theirvoice against the atrocities and widespread persecution of Muslims of Myanmar.
If the UN is reluctant to take steps against them, the OIC must call back ambassadors from Myanmar to mount pressure. The newly-formed Islamic Military Alliance(IMA) of 41 countries must send troops to rescue the Rohingyas.
Alli Sikandar Chachar Ghotki (2) WE are all hurt and concerned about the safety, well-being , protection of rights of Rohingya Muslim community in their homeland. Myanmar religious extremists and military have subjected the community to cruelty and humiliation.
Many families are deprived of their loved ones and rendered homeless, perhaps to be perpetually displaced to suffer hardships for generations.
Our clergy in Pakistan has registered its protests, taken out processions and gave strong statements. It is highly unlikely that these efforts will create any impact as far away as Myanmar.
An innocent question is why haven`t our clergy and religious activists come out with large or small processions to protest anincessant chain ofthe eviland atrocious attacks by terrorists in our own homeland? A comparison of Myanmar and Pakistan will show that almost every year the terrorists massacre dozens of Muslims in Pakistan for one Muslim life lost in Myanmar. Are we insensitive to killings at our doorsteps? Or is it that if Muslims massacre Muslims in an Islamic republic that is ignoredorcondoned.
There also has beenno protest by the same very activists on killings in Yemen over the last few years.
Anjum Karachi (3) THE Rohingya Muslim community is a very old problem between Bangladesh and Myanmar: this is not a territorial issue but a problem relating to citizenship.
Both Bangladesh and Myanmar say to each other that Rohingya community is `yours`.
Now either of them must approach the International Court of Justice to resolve this problem. Bangladesh is in a strong position because of Rohingya people`s physical features which are very similar to those of the people of Myanmar.
