ISLAMABAD: The Federal Board of Revenue (FBR) has released a list of 977 identined big retailers and asked them to integrate with the computerised system of the tax machinery.

The deadlinefor the integrationis Sept10,according to the sales tax general order released on Wednesday.

Those retailers, who are not liable to integrate, would apply to the commissioner concerned for exclusion from the list by Sept 10 and the commissioner would make a decision in this regard by Sept 15.

To encourage documentation, it was stated that a Tier-1 retailer who did not integrate its retail outlet in the manner prescribed during a tax period, its adjustable tax for that period would be reduced by 60pc. The figure of 15pc was raised to 60pc in the last budget as penalty.

Upon filing of sales tax return for the month of August by all notified Tier-1 retailers not integrated, the input tax claimed would be disallowed without any further notice or proceedings, creating tax demand by the same amount.-Staff Reporter
