Breast cancer awareness session held

KARACHI: A breast cancer awareness session, organised by Dawood Global Foundation in collaboration with Chughtai Health, was held here on Wednesday as part of `LADIESFUND Mammogram #LFMammogram` where women were invited to learn about the disease from doctors and hear from a breast cancer survivor, says a press release.

Almost 150 women attended this community event.

`We commend you forcoming out to learn about how to protect your health, early detection, and to invest in yourself. Today, you will receive a voucher for a free mammogram which could save your life.

But please encourage at least five other female friends to get tested so their lives may be saved as well,` said Tara Uzra Dawood, president, LADIESFUND.

Chief guest Masarrat Misbah encouraged women to take time out for their health. `Whether it is five minutes or 15 minutes,please avail this opportunity. Everything is not about make-up. It`s not about getting your hair done. Everything is about your good health.

Dr Rahila Usman, head of radiology, Chughtal Medical Centre, as well as Dr Sehba Arij Khan, spoke of the medical realities of this disease.

Huma Ali, a breast cancer survivor, shared her personal story and urged the audience to listen to the warnings of their bodies, as she had ignored her shoulderachefortoolong.
