LAHORE: The Organized Crime Unit (UCU) claimed to have obtained the CCTV footage of one of the sharpshooters, allegedly involved in the murder of Javed Butt, the brother-in-law of Khawaja Tareef alias Teefi Butt, said to be an underworld don.

OCU DIG Imran Kishwar says the police managed to get an important lead during the investigation into Javed Butt`s murder case.

He says the special teams of the OCU obtained the CCTV footage of a motorcyclist who had allegedly opened fire, killing Javed Butt near the FC Underpass on the Canal Road around a week back.

He says the police teams explored data of several cameras of the Punjab Safe Cities Authority (PSCA) and others installed privately on the Ferozepur Road near Garden Town, Ichhra, parts of Shah Jamal and other nearby localities following the reports suggesting that the shooter had used these areas to chase Javed Butt`s vehicle before targeting him.

While examining the cameras` footage, the police managed to trace a suspicious auto rickshaw and a motorbike, the DIG says.

Some of the cameras also captured the suspected shooter who used the rickshaw and motorbike before the murder, he added.

He says the close-up from the cameras` footage shows the alleged shooter, wearing a helmet, is aged between 60 to 65 years.

The DIG says the auto rickshaw in the footage bears a fake registration plate, adding that the police teams are checking the criminal records of the shooters in the 60-65 age bracket for the attacker`s identification.

To a question, the DIG said the footage of various cameras so far confirmed that he was the same attacker who shot Javed Butt.
