Section 144 imposed in Abbottabad for Muharram

ABBOTTABAD: As part of the Muharram security plan, deputy commissioner Khalid Mehmood has imposed Section 144 in Abbottabad district for one month prohibiting the assembly of five or more people at a place.

Also, a ban has been slapped on the use of loudspeaker, wall chalking, distribution of hate material and pillion riding.

The restriction will come into ef fect on October 10 to maintain law and order during the holy month.

The deputy commissioner also banned 21 clerics from entering the district for one month.

Among them are Lal Masjid cleric Maulana Abdul Aziz, Maulana Rab Nawaz Tahir, Maulana Ahmad Ludhianvi, Maulana Aurangzeb Farooqui , Maulana Ilyas Ghumman, Maulana Asif Sayaal Muawiya, Maulana Atta Mohammad Deshani, Maulana Masoodul Haq Usmani, Maulana Khalid Husain, Maulana Alam Tariq, Maulana Sarwar Nawaz Jhangvi, Maulana Kifiyat Hussain Naqvi, Allama Manzoor Hussain, Maulana Manzoor Mengal, Maulana Shabbir Ahmad Usmani, Islamuddin Usmani, Imran Gul, Chan Pir Shah, Zulfiqar Shah and Allama Raja Nasir Abbas.

The deputy commissioner also ordered the formation of a 20-member peace committee consisting of district khateebMaulana Abdul Wahid, Pir Syed Kamal Hussain Shah, Ghulam Husain Bangash, All Traders Association president Naeem Awan, Khursheed Azam, Zulfiqar Shah, Muf ti, Abdul Hafeez, District Bar Association president Asad Tanveer, Sardar Sher Dil, Maulana Azam Qadri, Mufti Nazeer Ahmed Qureshi, Maulana Qari Arshad, Maulana Sarfraz Khan, Maulana Altafur Rehman, Maulana Shakeel Akhtar and Syed Riaz Hussain Shah.

The nazim said traders were the backbone of economy and that his government was committed to resolving their problems.

He said roads in the district would be freed from all encroachments to ensure smooth flow of traffic.

Also in the day, drug inspector Agib Ali sealed eight medical stores and clinics in different parts of the district for being run by unqualified people and being unregistered with the healthcare regulator. Correspondent
