T HE most important problem f aced by the people of Rawalpindi and Islamabad is the unclean drinking water. The basic source of water supplied to these cities is Rawal dam. Although the water is supposed to be purified,itis pollutedwith microbes and toxic chemicals. The public sector waterfiltration plants are another important source of water but they are also contaminated . There is no proper management for the cleanliness of these plants .
According to a survey, 35pc of samples in Rawalpindi and 20pc of samples in Islamabad have been found to have microbial contamination. Here we should consider the f act that this is the capital city we are talking about.
Just imagine the condition of other areas of the state. I suggest that each one of us should take the responsibility on their behalf and try as much as possible to eliminate such issues from our society.
New water survey teams should be made so that the drinking water is sent for laboratory checks on a regular basis. A management team should take care of the hygiene of the water filteration plants.
Water is life and each one of us has a right to get it pure.
