Mercury soars to 39°C as city braces for hot spell

KARACHl: Residents of Karachi experienced a hot day on Tuesday when the mercury soared to 39 degrees Celsius under the influence of a high pressure area recently formed in lower atmosphere over the Arabian Sea, the Met department stated.
A day earlier, the maximum temperature recorded in the city was 37.5°C degrees Celsius.
According to the Met department`s advisory, Karachi`s weather is likely to remain hot to very hot and dry over the next four to five days under the current system`s influence.
`The day-time temperature is likely to range between 38°C and 40°C with surface wind to remain northwesterly most of the time,` it says.
The maximum temperature recorded was 39°C with 36 per cent relative humidity, whereas the minimum temperature was 26°C with 70pc relative humidity.
