Two sweet shops sealed for selling unhygienic food

RAWALPINDI, Nov 8: Two confectionery shops on Benazir Bhutto Road were sealed by assistant commissioner on Friday night on charges of preparing sweets with food material which had fungus.
AC City Quratul Ain Malik lodged an FIR against another sweet shop where she found dengue mosquitoes in the kitchen.
Talking to Dawn, the AC said that she first she visited the sweets shop in the morning and found its kitchen in unhygienic condition. She gave time to the owner to improve the situation till evening.
`When I visited the shop in the evening I found nothing has changed. I also found dengue mosquitoes. I also visited two other shopswhere fungus affected and rotten food material was being used to prepare sweets. The hygienic condition of chefs was also pathetic, she said.
`I was left with no option but to seal the shops and lodge complaints with Waris Khan Police station against the owners for selling unhygienic sweet and playing with the health of common man,` the AC said.
Meanwhile, the Rawal Town Municipal Administartion (RTMA) raided illegal slaughter house under the main bridge of Leh Nullah. The team caught the butcher red handed and confiscated the mutton and beef and 10 goats at the spot.
They razed the boundary walls of the slaughter house and lodged FIR with Pirwadhai Police Station against the butcher.
