PESHAWAR: President of Tehreek-i-Itehad-i-Qabail Mir Aslam Khan Afridi has accused officials of the Khyber Agency administration of backing the killers of his son and demanded of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Governor Sardar Mehtab Ahmed Khan to take action against the culprits involved in the murder.
Speaking at a news conference at Peshawar Press Club here on Saturday, Mr Afridi, who belongs to Malakabad area of Jamrud, said that law enforcers had some weeks ago raided his residence twice, but failed to find any outlaw or recover weapons from there.
However, he said that his two sons were taken into custody but they were also released after verification.
Mr Afridi said that his younger son, Adnan Aslam, a second year student at a local college, had been abducted on the evening of Oct 29 from outside his residence and was later shot dead at Ghundai area, about four kilometers from his house.
The officials of political administration, he said had got timely information about his murder and presence of body at a deserted place, but the Khasadar personnel avoided picking it up on the pretext that they could not move during night.
He said that his family had no enmity with anyone, and alleged that an Afghan family had killed his son in connivance with the political administration for the only reason that he always pointed out corruption of the officials concerned.
He claimed that two Afghan brothers, Aamir and Zahir Shah, sons of Shah Wali, who lived in a quarter of the public health department, had disappeared since his son was murdered.
Mr Afridi alleged that Aamir was once arrested in another murder case but the political administration released him by taking bribe.
He said that his son was a prominent cricketer of Khyber Agency and had earned fame in Fata, and his murder was a loss to the entire tribal belt.Bureau Report
