PPP workers stage protest in Diamer against CM`s `indifference`

GILGIT: Workers and leaders of Pakistan People`s Party, Diamer chapter, on Saturday took out a rally against Chief Minister Syed Mahdi Shah and other party leaders for ignoring them.

The protesters held posters and placards inscribed with `Go Mehdi Shah Go` slogans. The protesters started their march from Chilas bazaar and after passing through the Karakoram Highway and other roads gathered at the city`s main square.

They chanted slogans against the party`s GB leadership, and demanded of party`s central leaders to take notice of their `victimisation`.

Traffic on roads of the city remained suspended for some time due to theprotest.

Addressing the protesters, Peoples Youth Organisation (PYO), Diamer president Saifullah said that policies of the PPP leaders in GB had damaged the party in the region.

On the occasion, PYO vice-president Mohammad Jalal said that Mehdi Shah ignored Diamer region during the PPP`s five-year government. He said that genuine workers had decided to getrid ofthe`selnsh`leaders.

He lamented that PPP Diamer workers had been sent behind bars and attacked for protesting against thechief minister.

He appealed to the central leadership to take steps to save PPP in GB, and wanted replacement of PPP president with a `sincere` person.

Speaking on the occasion, PSF Diamer president Qasim Shah said that workers across GB had been disappointed by the policies of their government. He said that they wanted new leadership before the next GBLA elections.

He alleged that Mehdi Shah had strengthened his coalition partners, JUI-F and PML-Q, instead of his own party, and said that the protest would continue till ouster of Mehdi Shah from the post of PPP president.

He said that through a letter they had informed party chairman Bilawal Bhutto Zardri about the prevailing situation in GB.
