ISLAMABAD: A total of 28 terrorist attacks took place in Pakistan in October 2018, according to the Pakistan Institute of Peace Studies` monthly security review.

This amounts to a 65pc increase from the previous month but the number of people killed in the attacks has declined by 18pc from the previous month. In October, 52 people were injured in terrorist attacks and 28 were killed while 34 people were 1(illed the month before.

The 28 people killed include 19 security and law enforcement officials and nine civilians.

The report says 14 terrorist attacks took place in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa which claimed 11 lives and lef t 23 injured.

It says 12 attacks were reported in Balochistan which claimed 15 lives and injured 29 people. Ten of the attacks were perpetrated by various insurgent groups and two were conducted by religious militants.

Two policemen were killed in a targeted operation in Karachi. No attacks took place in any other region in the country. Staff Reporter
