Army authorities summon BBH doctor in torture case

2018-11-09
RAWALPINDI: Army authorities probing into a young maid`s torture case have asked a doctor of Benazir Bhutto Hospital (BBH) to appear before the court of inquiry along with the medical examination record of the victim to record her statement.

The military authorities are investigating the woman employer of the maid in the torture case as she was serving as a computer information and technology officer at the army headquarters. The husband of the woman, a doctor by profession, has already been arrested in the torture case registered with the Airport police on Oct 21 and sent to jail on a judicial remand.

The sources said the doctor of the BBH had been asked to bring the medical examination and X-rays reports of the torture victim along with her.

The 11-year-old maid has been kept with the Child Protection Bureau since she was brought back to Rawalpindi from her native town Faisalabad soon after the incident came to light last month.

Initially, three cuts with a blunt weapon were found on the victim`s head besides multiple bruises on other parts of her body.

After she complained of a severe pain in her left arm, a medical examination was conducted on her body, including consultancy with a neurologist.

The police said though the doctor did not admit to abusing the maid, he did say they used to taunt her whenever she went out of the house and once when she slipped down the stairs.

On Saturday, army authorities had interviewed the torture victim at the Child Protection Bureau. Mohammad Asghar
