PESHAWAR, Dec 8: Promotion of sports and literary activities in educational institutions is essential to prepare the youth for facing modern day challenges.

This was stated by Prof Fazal Manan, principal of Peshawar Public School and College, Warsak Road, as chief guest on the concluding day of the sports and literary week here on Sunday. He asked the teachers to create awareness of significance of sports and literary activities among their students.

He said that every possible opportunity should be provided by both the teachers and parents to involve young students in healthy activities. He distributed certificates and shields among the winning players and outstanding teachers.

Prof Manan said that he would try to address issues concerning promotion and service structure of teachers and provide to students the best possible facilities, including hostel accommodation, food etc.

He congratulated the winning players and advised them to also show good results in academics. Prof Manan said that students who took regular part in sports mostly performed well in academics. He said that education without co-curricular activities was meaningless.

The principal announced a daylong trip to Islamabad for the award-winning players and teachers. Vice-principal Prof Mohammad Ayub on the occasion urged the teachers to properly guide the young students so that they could play a useful role in development of the society. -Bureau Report
