Power crisis

2022-12-09
ELECT RICITY loadshedding is not a strange phenomenon in Karachi where we have all come to take it as an integral part of our lives. Even then, the scale at which it is happening in Gulshan-i-Zahoor Society Sector 8/C is beyond belief.

Previously, there used to to no loadshedding in the area because of a cent per cent recovery rate. However, in October, the area was shif ted from Mona Arcade RMU feeder to PECHS feeder, and since then, 12-14 hours of loadshedding every day has been a routine af f air. This is despite the fact that the recovery rate has remained cent per cent.

What would it take for us to get our basic human right? Those who pay their taxes and bills on time are the ones being ripped of f. Why? It is painful, if not impossible, for the area residents to go about their normal routines anymore. With gas shortage looming, the relevant authorities will soon be presenting excuses to cut down even the remaining 10 hours of electricity that we get these days. And what about the summers beyond? What the authorities concerned need to do is to reallocate the area to the original Mona Arcade RMU unit.

While the residents reserve the right to present their legitimate case in a court of law, they will be grateful if the authorities could look into the matter and see why they cannot do what apparently is a practical solution to the problem.
