Police to seek media assistance to identify murder victim

KARACHI: An FIR has been registered by the police on behalf of the state to initiate an investigation to ascertain the identity of a teenage girl who was shot dead by armed pillion riders in Orangi Town recently, it emerged on Thursday.

West-SSP(Investigation) Arib Mahar said they had also decided to seek media`s assistance and shared that a picture of the deceased would be released on news channels for her identification since she still remained unidentified and no one had approached the police to claim the body.

Unknown motorcyclists had brought the victim girl with themselves to Hanfia Masjid in sector-11-E where they got off the vehicle opened fire on her.

According to the contents of the FIR, the complainant, police officer Faiz Mohammed Sanjrani said that a girl aged around 18-19 years was gunned down near Hanfia Masjid in sector-11-E of Orangi Town. She had suffered two bullet wounds on her head and leg.

As per the FIR, the police visited the crime scene to talk to the area people but no information could be obtained.
