PES H AWA R: Former district and sessions judge and ex-chairman K h y b e r Pakhtunkhwa Services Tribunal, Ahmad Sultan Tareen, passed away on Thursday.
He was 62.
His funeral willbe held today (Friday) at his ancestral village Chohar Sharif, Haripur, at 10am.
Peshawar High Court Chief Justice Ishtiaq Ibrahim, judges of the high court and district judiciary and officers of the high court have expressed their profound grief over the demise of Mr Tareen.
They offered condolences to the bereaved family members and prayed to Almighty Allah to rest his soul in eternal peace and provide courage to the family members to bear this irreparable loss with equanimity.
The legal fraternity also expressed sorrow over his death. Several lawyers in their condolence messages stated that the deceased had served the judiciary in an upright manner and was known for performing his duty without any fear or favour.
Late Mr Tareen was in the news in April 2018 when he filed a complaint with Supreme Judicial Council of misconduct against the then chief justice of Pakistan, Saqib Nisar.
At that time he was serving as Kohat district and session judge. He was immediately transferred by the high court, placed under suspension and issued a show cause notice.
However, in his reply to the notice he had defended his act of sending a complaint to the council.
Subsequently, he was restored as a judge of the district judiciary.
The deceased started his judicial career in 2003 and after serving as civil judge, senior civil judge and additional district and sessions judge he was promoted as district judge in 2014.
