ISLAMABAD: A suspect arrested on the charge of robbing people coming out of banks told the police that he had been involved in crimes in Karachi and recently came to Islamabad.

A police official told Dawn that the Koral police on Saturday arrested the suspect who used to deprive people standing in queues outside banks of their cash.

`The suspect used to approach people coming out of banks or standingin queues outside to pay utility billssaying the currency notes they were holding were fake.

He would ask them to give him the notes to check whether they were genuine or fake.

After taking the currency notes from the people, he usaed to flee,` he said.

When the suspect cheated a citizen, Qadeer, in a similar manner outside a bank in the Alipur locality of the capital, people present there caught him and handed him over to police. -A Reporter
