ISLAMABAD: Dr Tariq Fazal Chaudhry, state minister for the Capital Administration and Development Division (CADD), places more importance on the Panama Papers case rather than Islamabad`s education sector.
At least, this was the impression he gave on Thursday evening, when the agenda of a press conference scheduled to be held at the Press Information Department (PID), was changed.
The presser was supposed to deal with the Prime Minister`s Education Reform Programme and a large number of education-beat reporters were in attendance.
However, they were surprised to see PML-N leader Daniyal Aziz a regular feature of government press conferences on the Panamagate scandal waiting for the CADD minister to start the press conference.
Upon his arrival, Dr Chaudhry informed reporters that he was there to speak on the Panama Papers issue and refute the PTI`s stance. When asked about the agenda change, the minister said that he intended to hold a separate press conference on the reforms programme, but then changed his mind.
`Mr Aziz and I were slated to hold separate press conferences, but I had to reschedule and will convene a separate press conference on education issues in the coming days,` the state minister said.
In their remarks, the PML-N leaders said that PTl leaders are trying to run away from the case they had instituted before the Supreme Court. They claimed the PTl had no evidence to prove its allegations against the PML-N leadership regarding the ownership of offshore companies.-A Reporter
