TURBAT University was portrayed as a panacea for the educational ills of Makran division when its foundation stone was laid. Since it got functional, however, the university has struggled to deliver what was expected of it. Even after about a decade of its existence, it has yet to ensure standardised education. It is a sorry tale of mismanagement for which one can only blame the university administration.
The university was established with the aim of accommodating students from areas located around Turbat city. To facilitate their commute, the university was given a fleet of buses. However, 10 of those buses have been on unofficial use, leaving hundreds of students to take care of their own transportation arrangements. This is being callous.
While those 10 buses are still missing, the university administration, through a voice note, has informed all students to pay Rs5,000 as transportation fee if they want to avail of whatever commute facility the university has. This is adding insult to injury. The new `demand` by the university administration is nothing but a financial blow to the students who are generally from the low socioeconomic strata of society.
