MANSEHRA: A police constable died when a jeep plunged into a ravine in Torghar district on Friday.

The police said Sattar Said was on his way back home in Judbah area after performing election duty when the jeep he was travelling in skidded off the road while negotiating a sharp turn, injuring him and the driver.

Local people rushed to the spot and shifted the injured to the Civil Hospital, where doctors pronounced the cop dead.

The funeral prayers of the deceased policeman were offered at the Police Lines in Judbah, the district headquarters of Torghar.

A large number of people from different walks of life, including deputy commissioner Ziaur Rehman Marwat and district police officer Mohammad Mushtaq attended his last rituals.

A contingent of police presented the police constable with a guard of honour.

Later, the deceased was laid to rest in his native Manl(ari Kamasar village.
