Two suspects killed by `accomplices`

BAHAWALPUR: Burewal Saddar police claimed on Sunday that two suspects were killed by their own two fleeing accomplices in a police encounter held at PL link during night time.
According to Vehari police spokesman, on an emergency call that four suspected dacolts had looted and killed a milk seller, Fayyaz, for offering resistance, a team of Burewala police rushed to the scene and surrounded the suspects.
He said a crossfire ensued, during which two of the suspects,identified as Malik Anjum, a resident of Pasroor tehsil and Babar of 469-EB village of Vehari district, were killed allegedly in the firing by their own accomplices.
However, he said, two accomplices of the dead criminals managed to flee.
Police claimed to have recov-ered the deceased mill< seller`s snatched motorcycle, along with two pistols, from the spot and registered a case against the fleeing suspects.
The bodies of the suspects were shifted to the Burewala THQ hospital for the postmortem examination.
Meanwhile, Vehari DPO Mansoor Aman at a ceremony conferred promotion badges on five police officials, who got promoted to sub-inspector (SI) rank.
RAPED: A married woman and a minor boy were allegedly raped in separate incidents in Multan and Vehari on Sunday.
Saddar police Vehari claimed to have arrested a suspect, who allegedly raped a five-year-old boy at 57/WB village.
In his plaint, the victim`s father, Jahangir, said that his son had gone to attend the Holy Quran lesson but did not return.
He said that he and his neighbours started looking for the boy, who was found in an aban-doned house in the village, where the suspect had raped him. He said that on seeing him and others, the suspect managed to flee.
The police sent the victim for medical examination and arrested the suspect.
In another incident, a man allegedly raped a married house help at Gulzeb Colony in the limits of Shah Shammas police station, Multan.
On the complaint of the woman`s husband, Ahsan, the police booked her employer.
The woman was sent to hospital for medical examination.
The suspect, who had fled away after lcnowing about registration of case against him, was yet to be arrested.
DEATH TOLL RISES: The death toll of Multan LPG container fire rose to 21 on Sunday when a 16-year old girl, who was under treatment in the Nishtar Hospital, Multan, succumbed to her burns. The victim, Mehwish (16), daughter of Ashig Hussain,was admitted to the hospital following the gas container blast.
LAWYER MURDERED: A lawyer who was injured over a land dispute succumbed to his wounds in a hospital in Multan.
Advocate Rana Amanullah was shot at and injured by his opponents over a land dispute and was rushed to Multan in precarious condition.
Police collected his body from the hospital and shifted it to Vehari.
GIRL DIES: A three-year old girl who was bitten by a dog succumbed to her wounds at the Bahawal Victoria Hospital(BVH) on Sunday.
Misbah, daughter of Ismail, a resident of Jalalpur Peerwala town in Lodhran district, was shifted to the BVH after dog bite.
Doctors handed over the body to her parents.
BODIES: The bodies of three men who were crushed to death by a speeding dumper in Karachi`s Korangi area onSaturday will be brought to their native village near Bahawalpur on Monday for burial.
The deceased men belonged to Mauza Hazariwalai near Noorpur Noranga on Bahawalpur-Ahmedpur East highway, about 40kms from the city.
Hailing from Abbasi family, the victims were identified as Asif, Amjad and Shaukat, who had gone to Karachi on a pleasure trip.
GANG BUSTED: Bahawalpur DPO Asad Sarfraz Khan claimed that Civil Lines police have arrested the alleged ringleader and three members of a dacoity gang and recovered looted and stolen items, including 15 motorcycles and cash, from them.
He said the arrested men who ran Wilayat Shah gang were wanted in a number of cases.
He added that the suspects were being interrogated and more recoveries were expected.
