KHYBER: Speakers at a protest demonstration in Jamrud on Sunday demanded the immediate release of the incarcerated Pakhtun rights activists, including Malak Naseer Ahmad, Ali Wazir and others.
MNA Iqbal Afridi, former Jamaat-i-Islami senator Mushtaq Ahmad, Abdur Raziq of ANP, Hazrat Khan of JUI-F and Kukikhel elders addressed the protest gathering held in the Jamrud Bazaar. They said that these leaders were arrested for their only sin that they raised their voice for the rights of the ‘deprived’ people of the province.
Terming them as ‘prisoners of conscience’, the speakers said that fake cases were registered against the activists while they had only spoken in support of the rights of the people of ‘oppressed’ regions.
The speakers also demanded of the Khyber Pakhtunkhwa chief minister to fulfill the commitments he made with Malak Naseer Ahmad in the form of an agreement at the time of Kukikhel protest for the return of their remaining displaced families to Tirah. — Correspondent
