PESHAWAR: A convoy of 120 vehicles carrying relief goods was dispatched from Thall tehsil of Hangu to the Kurram district on Sunday.
The district administration said that the relief supplies included food items and other essential commodities.
It stated that the convoy was sent after clearance from security forces. Security personnel and representatives from the district administration were accompanying the convoy, which departed from Thall Cantonment towardsParachinar.
Deputy commissioner Gohar Zaman confirmed that the convoy, consisting of both small and large vehicles, included food supplies, medicines and daily essentials.
Meanwhile, district police of ficer Mohammad Khalid said that strict security arrangements had been made for the convoy, with security personnel deployed at various points along the route.
Official sources reported that the fresh convoy did not include fuel tankers or gas cylinder transport vehicles. A separate convoy for petro-leum and gas supplies was expected to depart on Monday (today).
Meanwhile, a total of 80 bunkers have been demolished in Kurram district as part of the ongoing efforts to restore peace in the region.
Compensation cheques have also been distributed among the families of martyrs.
A spokesman of the district administration said on Sunday that 25 more bunkers were dismantled recently, bringing the total number of demolished bunkers to 80 since the implementation of the peace agreement.
