LAHORE: A burqa-clad armed man allegedly shot dead a college teacher in Shahdara area on Monday.

Slain Syed Zulfiqar Ali Shah received six bullets and died instantly, a police official said. He was serving as a professor at the Government Degree College, Kamoke.

He was walking along with his brother Syed Hasnat Ali Shah and cousin Tausif Husnain in the morning at a park when the armed men ambushed him.

Syed Hasnat told the police that as they reached near Rasheed Park, a man wearing `burga` intercepted his brother and fired several shots at him. He said the attack was so sudden that they could not react.

The assailant then ran towards his accomplice who was on the driving seat of a bike and both dsappeared.

Mr Hasnat was unaware of any motive or identity of the assassin.
