Fundraiser for schools

LAHORE: Pakistan Blooms in collaboration with The Citizen Foundation (TCF) has organised a fundraising event for its schooling system at a local hotel on Monday evening.

President Arif Alvi`s wife Samina Alvi, the first lady, was chief guest at the fundraiser. Ambassador of the Kingdom of Thailand Pornpop Uampidhaya, and Pakistan Blooms Lahore chapter of the Floral Arts Society of Pakistan (FASP) president Farida Hassan were also present.

Around 500 personalities from different walks of life from the city attended the event. Renowned dance artist Adnan Jahangir and Thailand floral artist Prabhat were also present.

Mr Jahangir and his team had performed on nature`s element transformed into floral artistry.

The artists had performed to promote heritage, culture and tourism with flowers and it was followed by a fundraising dinner.

TCF is providing free education to deprived students in various parts ofthe country. Mr Shahid Jamal addressing the ceremony said the TCF is running around 1,600 schools in the country and 700 are in Punjab.

He said around 250,000 students were being given free education in these schools andhe appealedto the participants to donate generously for the TCF schooling system.

Ambassador of the Kingdom of Thailand Pornpop Uampidhaya said flowers would promote world peace.

He said the floral dance artists were doing an amazing job and promoting Pakistan`s soft image and attracting tourists.

Ms Alvi had praised the performance of Thailand`s noral artist Praphat and dancer Mr Jahangir.

She handed over a cheque from her personal account to the TCF members as donations.

Later, the Pakistan Blooms Lahore chapter of the Floral Arts Society of Pakistan (FASP) also presented gifts to the first lady and the artists. Staff Reporter
