Book fair at GCU

LAHORE: A two-day book fair being organised the Government College University (GCU) Library Society received an overwhelming response from teachers and students on its first day on Monday.

GCU Vice Chancellor Prof Dr Asghar Zaidi inaugurated the book fair at the Abdus Salam Hall, which had stalls set up by more than 52 eminent publishers.

GCU Chief Librarian Muhammad Naeem, Deans Prof Dr Sultan Shah, Prof Dr Raiz Ahmad and Prof Dr Khalid Manzoor Butt were also present.

Prof Zaidi said books held a great significance and information technology could not replace them.

He urged the parents and students to promote a culture of gifting books on special occasions to promote reading and also requested the publishers to give maximum discount to the students at the book fair.
