RAHIM YAR KHAN: An infant girl allegedly died due to a wrong injection of a quack at Basti Khan Muhammad of the Badli Sharif area in Rajanpur Kalan Union Council, some 161(m from here, on Monday.

Reports said eight months old Kainat was brought to the Haroon Medical Store Badli Sharif for treatment where a quack injected her with medicine. Kainat died immediately after the injection. Viewing the situation, the quack, who could not be identified, escaped from the scene.

Deputy Commissioner (DC) Ali Shehzad ordered an inquiry into the incident and instructed District Health AuthorityChief Executive Officer Dr Sakhawat Randhawa to give a report within 24 hours.

Mr Randhawa told Dawn he had appointed Deputy District Health Officer Dr Muhammad Saleh as the inquiry officer who would look into the case and report the findings within 24 hours. He said a campaign was in progress against quacks in the district and their mushroom growth would be monitored.

A team consisting of deputy district health officer, two drug inspectors and two doctors had been formed in the district and an app was also being introduced for elimination of quacks. Correspondent
