ATC adjourns four cases against `financers of banned outfit

MULTAN: An anti-terrorism court on Monday adjourned the hearing of four different cases till March 25 to charge sheet the suspects for their alleged involvement in providing financial assistance to a wing of banned militant outfit Lashkar-e-Taiba (LeT) and helping it in sale and purchase of properties.

The suspects -Hafiz Abdul Salam, Muhammad Yahya, Hafiz Abdul Rehman, Haji Muhammad Ashraf and Malik Zaffar Iqbal -who were presented by the police in the court were provided the copies of the FIRs lodged against them with the Counter Terrorism Department (CTD) police under various sections.

As per the first FIR, the arrested suspects provided help to the militants involved in sabotage activities in various cities ofthe province.Besides,the arrested suspects,others including Dr Muhammad Ayub, Abdullah Ubaid, Umer Farooq, Muhammad Dawood, Mohsin Bilal, Dr Ahmed Dawood and Muhammad Naeem, who have been declared proclaimed offenders, were also booked by the CTD police on July 2, 2019. They are accused of helping Tanzeemul Anfaal Trust of banned LeT in purchasing property, besides providing it with financial assistance.

Another FIR was lodged against Malik Zaffar Iqbal and proclaimed offenders Ghulam Hassan, Abdul Ghaffar, Ameer Hamza and Hafiz Masood Kamal for providing financial assistance to the banned organisation at Mian Channu.

Third FIR was lodged against Malik Zaffar Iqbal, Hafiz Abdul Rehman and POs Munir Ahmed, Muhammad Naeem, Mohsin Bilal, Abdullah Ubaid and Muhammad Ayub for providing financial help to the banned outfit at Machiwal, Vehari district.

Fourth case was lodged against Hafiz Adbul Salam, Hafiz Abdul Rehman, Malik Zaffar Iqbal and POs, including Muhammad Rafique, Tahir, Javed Iqbal, Muhammad Naeem, Saifullah, Muhammad Ayub and Hafiz Idrees.
