Two gunmen killed in `encounter`

OKARA: Two gunmen were shot dead while one escaped in a police encounter late on Sunday near 4/GD on Renala Khurd-Chuchak Road.

As per a first information report, registered by Ghulam Mustafa, the three gunmen deprived him and three others besides two or three motorcyclists of cash and valuables. As the police were alerted on 15 by Mustafa, a team with the reinforcement arrived at the crime scene and soon exchanged of fire began.

Meanwhile, gunmen and villagers also traded fire as the gunmen started fleeing toward 4/GD taking the cover of fire. When the guns fell silent, the police found two of them dead by the road in a wheat crop field. A motorcycle was also found at the scene.

Bodies were shifted to the Ol(ara District Headquarters (DHQ) City hospital for autopsy.

The police said both victims were identified as Arshad Sulehri, of Okara, and Muhammad Aslam, of Nankana Sahib. Both were wanted by Okara, Nankana Sahib, Kasur and Faisalabad police in different cases. Both were also wanted for the murder of head constable Tanvir, who was shot dead at a petrol pump in Renal Khurd in 2015.

INJURED: Up to 25 people were injured when a roofcaved in where a group of people was celebrating the birth anniversary of Hazrat Ali in village Lashari, some 36 kilometres from Okara.

The function was being held at the residence of Tauseef Shah and langar was being distributed at the roof of his house when it caved in.

The injured included Tuseef Shah, Muhammad Imran, Muhammad Ali, Imam Bibi, Sughran Bibi, Salma and 20 others.

Those with severe injuries were shifted by Rescue 1122 to the DHQ-City hospital Deputy Commissioner Usman Ali and District Police Officer Umer Saeed Malik rushed to hospital to inquire about the health of critically injured people.

CASE: Four people were bool(ed on the orders of the court of the additional district and sessions judge for presenting the bogus copy of the land rights (fard) in the court as surety bond.

As per the first information report, got registered by complainant Muhammad Zaman, in the recovery suit of the amount Rs1.19 million, the court of ADJ Ijaz Ahmad directed respondent Muhammad Ijaz to furnish surety bonds who submitted bogus fard by guarantor Kashif Iqbal of the city locality.

Fard was found fake on verification. A case was registered against Ijaz, Kashif and fard makers Shafiq and Muhammad Amin at the Sadar police.
