TAXILA: The Attock district administration and Attock Women Chamber of Commerce and Industry (AWCCI) held two events on Sunday to commemorate International Women`sDay.

The events brought together schoolgirls and accomplished women from various fields, creating a platform for mentorship and inspiration.

Women leaders shared their life journeys with young girls, emphasising the importance of education and believing in women`s potential.

Students depicted womenfolk`s contribution to various fields through various performances.

The Attock administration`s event was a vibrant tribute to women`s achievements and a call to action for gender equality and empowerment.

Attendees included successful women from diverse backgrounds such as education, business, healthcare, arts and social activism.

The participants shared their per-sonal stories and words of wisdom with the young audience.

They were of the view that evidence from around the world showed that empowering women led to the better economic growth of a country and urged that the government should focus on policy reforms to create a conducive environment for women to bring them into the mainstream of the economy.

The school girls, representing various educational institutions, actively participated in the event by delivering speeches and reciting poems.

Their heartfelt words reflected their dreams, ambitions and gratitude for the women who have inspired them.

The event highlighted the importance of nurturing young talent and providing them with role models to look up to.

Speaking as chief guest, Attock Assistant Commissioner Inza Abbasi said, `Today, we celebrate the strength, resilience and achievements of women. By bringing together these young girls and successful women, we aim to inspire the next generation to dream big and break barriers.The event concluded with a collective pledge to continue supporting initiatives that promote gender equality, education and women`s empowerment in the region.

Separately, an event was organised by the AWCCI. The speakers were of the view that women empowerment, equal distribution of resources and increasing women`s number in the workforce can change the economic fate of the country.

They said that women are almost half of the total population and the government should make conducive policies to enhance their role in the economic activities that would pave the way for their empowerment and accelerate the economic growth of the country.

AWCCI President Hina Mansab Khan, speaking on the occasion, said that rural women are key agents for development.

She added that rural women can play a key role in achieving transformational economic, environmental and social changes needed for social development.
