NAROWAL: Two youths were feared drowned while bathing in the Upper Chenab Canal on Sunday.
Spokesman Rescue 1122 Sheikhupura said a call was received from Sharagpur Sharif.
According to the caller, eight friends were bathing in the canal and two of them went into the deep water and drowned.
The victims were identified as 25-year-old Salman Ali and 20-year -old Abdul Rahman.
The Rescue 1122 divers arrived at the scene as soon as the phone call was received and launched the operation. The spokesman said the search operation in the darkness of the night faced difficultiesbut it would continue till the search of the bodies.
INJURED: The roof of a room collapsed due to a fire in Sheikhupura, inflicting injuries on five people.
Rescue 1122 spokesman Tammal Hussain said a call was received from Sharagpur Sharif about the fire and roof of the room that had collapsed.
He said the firefighters reached the scene immediately after the call was received and controlled the fire. With the help of locals, they took out the injured from the debris.
The injured were identified as 42-year-old Sidra Waheed, 20-year-old Arshad Waheed, 17-yearold Sawera Waheed and nine-year-old Zara Waheed.-Correspondent
