PESHAWAR: The city traffic police on Sunday booked 70 persons for encroachments in various areas of the provincial metropolis.
The anti-encroachment campaign is being conducted on the directives of Capital City Police Officer Haroon Rasheed in various localities, including GT Road, Ashraf Road, Khyber Bazaar, Shoba Chowk, and Ring Road.
Police arrested 70 persons for erecting illegal structures on the roadsides and confiscated their goods.
CCPO Haroon Rasheed said that efforts would continue to clear the city of all types of encroachments, adding one of the main causes of traffic jams and choking of roads was encroachments that also affected smooth and safe movements of pedestrians along roadsides.
He also urged people to park their vehicles and motorcycles in designated parking lots. — APP
