KARACHI: Pakistan Tehreek-i-Insaf (PTI) Sindh chapter president and MNA Dr Arif Alvi, at a press conference at Karachi Press Club on Sunday, raised issue with the lack of judicious distribution of water. He also spoke about the case registered against several elected representatives including himself on the complaint of a security guard at the Clifton Cantonment Board (CBC).
He vowed to approach the court against it. `We don`t want confrontation against anybody but we will not give up the struggle for the rights of the people.
Dr Alvi spoke about how they had gone to meet the chief executive officer of the CFC who not only refused to meet them but also directed them to leave his office. He criticised the autocratic attitude of the CEO and said that as elected representatives of the people, they can take up issue with any government functionary who is paid from the taxes of the people.
Summer, hesaid, islooming and people will suffer the hardship of water shortage and this cannot be tolerated.
He said that VV IPs were being supplied with water tankers at the cost of the people, and such a situation could not be tolerated. The water available should be distributed judiciously because water is a basic necessity. The PTI leader said that the three districts of Karachi Malir, Korangi and South receive 137 million gallons of water. Out of this 50mg water was sold out at a hydrant in Landhi.
