Two shot dead in Dir

UPPER DIR: Unidentified assailants shot dead two persons and injured one in Patrak area of remote Kohistan valley here on Monday.

Police identified the deceased as Toor Khan and Rais, residents of Gawadi, saying that unknown attackers shot them dead at Patrak when they were going to Gawadi from Mardan. The police they had registered an FIR and started investigation.

Meanwhile, one person was killed another was injured when a car and a motorcycle collided in Kotkai area on the outskirts of Dir city. The injured was shifted to the district headquarters hospital, Dir.

TEACHERS PROTEST: Teachers of all cadres across the district observed a token strike against the timescale policy recently announced by the Khyber Pakhtunkhwa government. The teachers said the new timescale policy was unacceptable to them because it was not according to the agreement the provincial government had reached with them (teachers).

Speaking to the protesters, the district president of Tanzeem-i-Asatiza, Bakhtiar Zamin, and its secretary information Ikramullah, said the government had reached an agreement with all teachers` coordination council`s provincial leadership that the teachers would be promoted in next scale after passage of five years on previous scale.

However, they added the government did not fulfill its promise and announced that a teacher would be promoted in next scale after remaining eight years on previous scale. They said the government had deceived them. Correspondent
