ANP workers convention fails to attract crowd

2018-04-10
MANSEHRA: The ANP`s workers convention in Torghar on Monday failed to attract crowds with many blaming it on differences within the party`s local leadership.

The event was held in Mera Madakhail area, once the stronghold of the ANP.

Former MNA and hopeful for the ANP ticket from the local provincial assembly seat, had claimed that the party activists and supporters would attend the convention in large numbers.

However, the claim turned out to be false as thin attendance was seen in the event.

The disgruntled group led by ANP provincial vice-president Nimroz Khan and his supporters didn`t show up in the convention. Mr Nimroz is opposed to the nomination of Mr Laiq from PK-35 Torghar for the general elections.

ANP provincial secretary general Sardar Hussain Babak addressed the participantsand said the party would sweep the upcoming polls to form the provincial government.

He said the people would reject the PTPs anti-Pakhtun policies by voting against it in the next general elections.

`The 2018 elections in KP will be a referendum for all parties. The people will clearly vote for us to power,` he said.

Mr Babak said the revival of the Muttahida Majlis-i-Amal before the elections was of no use and that the people would reject the alliance of religious parties in elections.

Former MNA Laig Mohammad Khan said the ANP government had empowered the people in Torghar after turning their tribalbeltinto a district.

`The ANP not only gave the district status to this highly neglected area but also sanctioned a development package of over Rs5 billion for its development, which is unpre ce dente d,` he said. correspondent
