Couple killed for ‘honour’

SHANGLA: A couple was killed for honour in Donkacha Chauga area of the district.

DSP Puran circle Zeerab Gul told mediapersons here on Tuesday that the girl (23) and man (27) were allegedly shot dead by brothers of the girl late on Monday night. He said that the bodies were found in the room of girl at her house.

Mr Gul claimed that the girl’s family members had decided to kill the two after suspicion that they had illicit relations. He said that they were killed with Kalashnikov fire. He said that after the attack brothers of the girl, Ali Rehman and Mohammad Waseem, surrendered to police.

The police registered a case under Section 302 and 311 of the Pakistan Panel Code and have started investigation.

Meanwhile, Scores of political activists here joined Pakistan Tehreek-i-Insaf on Tuesday in Martoba Chagam Puran. They made the announcement during a political gathering, where special assistant to chief minister for tourism Abdul Munim was the chief guest.

MPA Abdul Munim said that it was the PTI-led government would develop the backward areas of the district and ensure provision of facilities to the people. He said that the provincial government had launched mega development projects in the province during a short span of time. He claimed that scores of link roads, schools and hospitals had been constructed in the district.—Correspondent
