Corruption rampant in KP, says Fazl

Bureau Report 2017-05-10
PESHAWAR: Jamiat Ulema-i-Islam-F chief Maulana Fazlur Rehman while criticising the policies of Pakistan Tehreek-i-Insaf-led coalition government in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa has said that corruption graph has gone up in the province.

Addressing a function here on Tuesday he said despite a propaganda campaign and wastage of resources PTI could not control corruption in the province. Corruption hadincreasedin the province,he alleged.

He said only JUI-F could eliminate the menace of corruption from society. He said international financial institutions had admitted that corruption was under control during the Mutahidda Majlis-i-Amal government in KP.

Without mentioning PTI chairman Imran Khan, Maulana Rehman said: `Now he says that they will eradicate corruption from entire country.` On the occasion members of Insaf Lawyers Forum and other PTI workers announced to join JUI-F. The JUI-F chief claimed that after 2013 general elections he was offered either to join the coalition government or support him, but he (Fazl) refused the offer. He said he had received offers that his party would get funds for mosques and seminaries if JUI-F supported the provincial government.`I turned down the offers for the sake of protecting Islamic values and culture of Pakhtuns,` he claimed, adding that western countries specifically targeted Pakhtun lands to promote their culture in this region.

He said KP was handed over to `Jewish lobby` to distort faith, belief, culture and civilisation of the people of the province. Initially, he said, a few seminaries and mosques were provided funds in the name of mainstreaming of religious institutions. He said despite offers his party did not surrender and fought to protect belief and culture of the province.

`Now flow of funds from the west has been stopped and the provincial government has approached World Bank to provide Rs70 billion loan,` he said, adding that PTI had lost this war and JUI-F had buried its agenda.

He said he did not have personal animosity with any individual or party and JUI-F was trying to block western culture through democratic struggle.
