QUETTA: Lawyers boycotted courts on Thursday in protest against the murder of the principal of University Law College Q uetta, Barrister Amanullah Khan Achakzai.
Mr Achakzai was shot dead by attackers on Wednesday.
The Balochistan High Court Bar Association and Balochistan Bar Association gave the call to mourn the principal`s death and hoisted a black flag on the district court building.
Leaders of the two organisations criticised the government for not providing security to members of the legal fraternity despite the murder of several lawyers at the hands of militants. They reminded the government that growing violence against lawyers was leading to slow dispensation of justice and demanded immediate arrest of those responsible for the murder.
Meanwhile, the Brewery Road police registered and FIR against unknown killers on the complaint of Hazrat Omar, brother of Mr Achakzai.
`The FIR includes sections pertaining to murder, act of murder and AntiTerrorism Act,` they said.
