KARACHI: Death claimed two of a party of Karachi schoolgirls who had gone to Clifton beach on Friday [June 9] morning for a picnic. The tragic accident occurred ... when a `Tiger Moth` bi-plane was stated to have dipped over them for probably the fifth time so low as to hit and blow off the head of Miss Mani Bakirji Behrana, 16, who, along with her ... compatriots, was running ... along the beach to escape the fatal sweep of the `Tiger`.

The under-carriage of the plane seems to have hit also Miss Roshan Mavalawallah, 15, who was admitted to polyclinic with snapped spinal cord and a fractured hip bone. She succumbed to her injuries... .

The party of school girls was out on the beach for swimming. As they went out to sea, a yellow Tiger Moth plane swooped on them.

They shrieked and ducked. The plane came again and again, every time flying lower.

The last time it came, it caught four of the girls... . Miss Pervin Driver and Miss Pervez Kotwal escaped with slight bruises. Three yellow Tiger Moths were in the air on Friday morning.
