ISLAMABAD: A 22-year-old woman has filed an FIR against her fiancé for criminal breach of trust and defrauding her.

The police said the suspect has been arrested and that according to initial investigations, the suspect told the complainant he was the son of a billionaire and that he was not on good terms with his family for now because he had refused to marry the woman his family had chosen for him.

He told the complainant he will marry her when relations with his family normalise and in the meantime, took money and gifts from the complainant and her mother.

According to the investigation officer at the Aabpara police station Mohammad Aslam, the complainant, who is a model, gave the accused a mobile phone, other gifts and cash, all worth over half-a-million rupees. The accused is said to have shown her a house which he said he will buy in her name after he makes up with his father and also held a meeting with a property dealer with her.

Mr Aslam said the complainant started having doubts after a few months and filed a complaint with the police.

“The accused told her he was from Lahore but our investigation shows he is from Islamabad and does not come from a rich family as claimed. Both parties seem to have been interested in the other for money,” Mr Aslam said.—A Reporter
