KOHAT: Gandhara Hindko Board`s district president Naeem Iqbal said here on Sunday that the first Hindko syllabus was being printed and hoped that Hindko would be introduced from the next academic year as an optional subject from fourth class to intermediate level.
Talking to this scribe, he said that compilation of alphabets, essays and poems took three years and it was proposed that the subject be made part of the school and college syllabus at the Hindko board conference held in Kohat in 2014.
Mr Iqbal said that the booldet was a combined collection of words from Seraiki of Dera Islamil Khan, Hazara language, Peshawari and Kohati Hindko and its dialects spoken in all parts of the regions with different accent.
He said that Hindko scholars had contributed to the `Qaida` and all efforts had been made to revive the old words and idioms. `Istarted the campaign for launching Hindko as a subject in 1992,` he said.
Mr Iqbal said that he, and writer and poet Arshad Naeem had contributed to the syllabus from Kohat besides two female teachers. He said that publication of Hindko dictionary was also in progress.
RAILCAR SERVICE: MPA Ziaullah Bangash has reminded Prime Minister Nawaz Nawaz of his promise about resumption of Rawalpindi-Kohat railcar service from June 30, 2017.
In a statement issued on Sunday, he said that the MPs and civil society members had launched a peaceful protest by staging sit-ins at the railway station for four long years on every Friday demanding the rail service to be made operational.
During his visit of Kohat in May 2016, the PM had announced that the service would be re-launched from June 30, 2017 and ordered the minister to ensure repair of the track by then.
The service was abandoned in May 2013 without any reason.
